OCT 23 - 29, 2026 ・ GOTO ISLAND, JAPAN

Six days on a
Japanese island that
has held people

whole for centuries

An island retreat where ancient Japanese wisdom does the work, and you come home to yourself.

CURATED BY SACHI・ HELD BY NOMAD RESORT & GOTO CITY
THIS IS YOUR INVITATION

You've done the work. The therapy. The journaling. The morning routines. The courses about becoming your best self. And yet something still feels slightly off, like you're always one more habit away from finally arriving.

What if you were never broken? What if the exhaustion isn't from falling short but from the effort it takes to perform a version of yourself that was never really you?

Goto has been a refuge for the unperformed self for four hundred years. For six days, you step inside that lineage. Not to become someone new, but to return.

Tsubaki Retreat

THE FRAMEWORK

Four Japanese concepts, lived on the island where they belong

Not themes to learn about. Lived experiences to move through, in the Sachi way: less theory, more felt sense. Curated and guided by Jazmine, held by the island and its people.

MA

間

Create Space

The gentle pause in between. The quiet between breaths, the white space around a painting. Ma reminds us we don't have to be 'on' all the time, and that rest and silence are where we hear ourselves again.

GO-EN

ご縁

Held by people and place

The invisible threads that connect us, the people and chances that arrive at the right moment. En reminds us we were never meant to do life alone. We are held by our relationships, and by the land beneath our feet.

ARINOMAMA

ありのまま

Just as it is

Seeing yourself honestly, without trying to fix or improve. Not 'how do I become better?' but 'can I tell the truth about how I feel right now, and let that be okay?' The starting point for any real change.

JUNIN-TOIRO

十人十色

Ten people, ten colours

No two women carry the same story or the same body. There is no single 'right' way to be. This is the permission to show up as your full, unedited self, and to let that be your beauty.

WHERE ・ GOTO ISLAND, NAGASAKI

We chose Goto for the lineage

Goto is a small archipelago off the coast of Nagasaki. Cobalt sea, volcanic coastline, quiet fishing towns, and wild camellia forests that keep blooming even when the weather turns.

A life can be concealed, and still remain intact.

For centuries, Goto was where people went when they could no longer live a divided life. When the Edo-period persecutions began, Japan's Hidden Christians crossed the water and built communities here, holding their truth in plain sight by hiding it inside the everyday. The land did the holding: remote coves, steep slopes, churches that still stand as evidence.

WHY TSUBAKI

The flower this retreat is named for

Source: Video by Roman Odintsov

The tsubaki, the camellia, blooms in the cold when almost nothing else does.

It doesn't wait for easier weather. It opens, quietly, in the season that asks the most of it. In Japan's language of flowers, the tsubaki carries meanings like quiet tenderness and pride, a self-respect that doesn't need to announce itself.

On Goto it is more than a symbol. Its women have pressed camellia oil from these forests for centuries, using it to anoint their hair and skin long before wellness became something you could buy. It is a living island industry, and the forests still bloom wild across the archipelago. For the Hidden Christians, the camellia became a secret emblem of endurance, blooming through everything that tried to erase them.

Not to become. To return.

HOW ・ SIX DAYS

The week, anchored by the island itself

Underneath all four concepts is the land, holding the week the way it has held people for centuries.Curated and guided by Jazmine, and brought to life day by day by a women-led, Japan-based on-island team.

DAY 1-2

間

MA

The Intelligence of the Pause

The power of a real pause. Time where nothing is asked of you.

We arrive. We slow down. Morning dance movement on the beach. Calligraphy with a local sensei, where the white space matters as much as the ink. At night we sit with the island in its quiet, under a sky with no light pollution, and watch the stars come out. You begin to hear what's underneath the noise.

DAY 2-3

ARINOMAMA

ありのまま

Just as you are

Telling the truth about how you actually are, without fixing it.

We walk the volcanic coastline and the wild camellia forests in the spirit of shinrin-yoku, forest bathing, with disposable cameras in hand. Your only invitation: find what is beautiful, exactly as it is. Photograph the moss-covered stone. The weathered fishing boat. No prompts. No analysis. Just your eye, the trail, and what calls to you. You'll create your own personal aroma blend, a scent anchor to support your journey. Movement workshop for practising embodiment. The first quiet conversations with the self-critic inside you.

DAY 3-4

ご縁

GO-EN

Abundance in Interdependence & Connection

being held by people and place, instead of doing everything alone.

We visit a local farm and harvest with our own hands, then carry it back and grill it together over an open fire. We embody "Itadakimasu": we gratefully receive the life that came from the soil, the rain, the farmer's hands, and now it becomes us. The circle completes.

There will be an uthentic relating session, where we witness and be witnessed by each other without fixing, without advice, without judgment. Just presence. The same quality of attention we gave the land, we give each other.

DAY 5-6

十人十色

JUNIN-TOIRO

Ten People, ten colours

Your way of being is allowed, even if it doesn’t match anyone else’s

Once we reconnect with ourselves and feel in our bodies that it is safe to be seen, we shine the light on the beautifully unique parts of us. We create our very own reminder to anchor us back home (to ourselves) by crafting a piece of jewellery out of coral, which grows in abundance around the island.
We  celebrate under open June skies, and before you leave, you write a letter to yourself, which will be sealed and mailed to you 90 days later, when you might like a little reminder our in the wild.

OUR INTENTIONAL CHOICES

Why it matters

Tsubaki icon2.png

Held by the land, not staged on it

Goto's coral has formed in these waters for centuries; its women have pressed camellia oil for just as long. For 250 years, islanders preserved what was truest about themselves under conditions that demanded they hide it. We didn't bring a concept to a pretty location. The island was already living it.

Tsubaki icon2.png

A space you don't have to be strong in

This retreat is women-only, not as a rule but as a recognition. You have your own room. The onsen is there when you need to be alone with hot water and silence. The group is the container, not the obligation. Every space was chosen to answer one question: does this let someone finally exhale?

Tsubaki icon2.png

A rhythm built for rest

The schedule favours rest over productivity, so the body can remember that rest is not a threat but the safest place inside yourself. We hope you leave having remembered what it feels like to befriend your nervous system rather than be at odds with it.

HOW ・ SIX DAYS

Colorit Goto Islands

An intentionally designed space boasting ocean-front rooms, with onsen and sauna. Your own space when you need it, the group when you want it. A refreshing time and space to reconnect with your true self.

THE COMMUNITY

Held by a team who lives there

This retreat is held by a small team with one shared priority: that you feel safe, seen, and exquisitely cared for by the people and by the place. You're welcomed into an island community that already knows how to host, hold, and care, so you never have to figure anything out alone.

Jazmine Sachiko Ross

Certified Coach · TEDx Speaker · Facilitator

Jazmine grew up in rural Japan, British by blood, Japanese by upbringing. The only person in every room who was fully both, and fully neither. What she teaches now came directly from that: the lived experience of learning to stop performing and start returning. She curates the arc of the week, choosing the farmers, senseis, and makers you'll meet, and guides you through it alongside the on-island team. She is not here to guide you toward someone new. She knows the way back.

IN THEIR WORDS

What women say about being in this space

Jazmine has the ability to see you in your authentic self and talks to that instead of all your shoulds. I felt safe, completely confident that whatever I share is not only understood, but that it's also okay. Not many people have that ability. I feel very privileged to have been in her space.

LARA - ITALY

Working with Sachi has been an incredible journey. They create the kind of safe, non-judgmental space where you can truly open up. Their sensitivity in navigating emotional territory, combined with their ability to connect the dots in your story, makes you feel deeply understood.

LAURA MAI - UK

What I loved most about the space Jazmine created was that it didn’t feel like a one-time emotional experience. It felt like a beginning. The reflections and questions I took away feel practical enough to bring into everyday life.

YU - JAPAN

To be honest I never thought staying in a island could be that cool, being surrounded by a local community always looking to help you and show you the island. They're open to foreign guests and they really care about keeping a strong supportive community.

This
Is For

  • You are a woman who carries a lot, and you are ready to put some of it down
